Did I tell you I strongly disliked the Dr we saw at the care station today? She was arrogant. Said a low grade temp isnt a temp at all? Um, yes it is! Dont we all know when your kid has, lets say, a 99.9 temp, the best it yet to come? When I asked her what her professional opinion of a temp was, she would not respond! So I asked, is 101 a temperature? Mind you Im with 2 sick teens, one whos coughing is constant & keeping a face mask on him was like riding a bronco & LYD who looked like she just got out of a washing machine! 101 is a low temp! That was her answer. Mind you, Im starting to feel pretty crappy myself. LYD def had a sore throat (I saw it) & her famous line of: I have squishy ears! Shes had countless ear infections, tubes, you name it... shes 2 weeks away from turning 14..she knows her ears! So I pursue the low temp thing b/c now shes really hitting my Mommy nerve. I ask (as if Im truly perplexed, or interested for that matter) whats the difference between a low grade temp & a low temp? She gives me the not in front of the kids look. Im raising my brow & shaking my head. Im pretty sure she caught my WTF? look. Common cold! Thats what both my kids, with their own unique set of symptoms, low temp vs. low grade temp, are experiencing! I reiterated the reason we were there was to make sure there wasnt an infection of any sort, Bubby cant tell me if his ears are squishy, trying to look at his throat is quite difficult (although I was PROUD he said ahh & stuck his tongue out like a pro) & the NON-STOP coughing!! She says: Mom, in medical terms they both have a URI otherwise known as the Common Cold! Practically begged her for an antibiotic. Also mentioned their usual Dr gives them Prednisone & they are like new people in a 1/2 day! She looked at me like I asked her for heroin! And the temps? Well, LYDs is climbing.. And Bubby is still hacking away! Oh..AND when I asked what OTC cold med she suggested? Makes no difference, theyre all the same! Pretty sure Robitussin would beg to differ b/c searching that cold/flu isle is like cramming for the bar exam! Mommy is having a hot toddy #orFour
