Did anyone else on this site receive the in-box message below from Stephen Edwards? I have no idea who he is and I wondering why he in-boxed me. Its not like Im the only one who has voiced opposition to the way the OBA is handling the PRC matter. Sorry, I could not copy the illustration that he refers to. Good day, I read something rather interesting today. A Progressive Labour Party advertisement stating, Progress ove Politics . Intially I found this quite amusing, however the faint smile soon faded away. As an advocate of the PLP, youre publically against the Permenant Residence Certificate holderss eligibility to obtain Bermuda status. Why? At the discretion of assuming: hatred, selfishness . . . politics? The PLP claims to rid the PRC holders of the eligibility to obtain status for a number of reasons. See attached picture for yourself: As you see, these are quite petty reasons that can all simply be dispelled. For example, the geographical land mass of the island should not play a role in the granting of Bermuda status, especially when these PRC holders are already phyically here. Bodies already occupying space, land, homes. Therefore the island is not too small to grant these individual status. Additionally, preventing them status will not cause them to leave or decrease Bermudas population as they are Permanent Reseidence Certificate holders. Secondly, they take jobs from Bermudians. What you need to understand is that these PRC holders have held their jobs for decades if not more. I feel that the PLP supporters are confusing expats with PRC holders. Now, I understand why these are the stated reasons to oppose, to achieve public support that validates that the PLP are solely for the citizens of Bemuda. However, the PLP are masking their intentions. This is just a political arms race, with this controversial issue as ammunition. The PLP are against the PRC holders being granted status simply because they feel it will increase the votes of your opposition. Which is why I found the, Progress over Politics rather amusing but horrific. How could you advertise this but then stop the progression of Bermuda and its citizens because of a political view that is not even factual or based on statistics. It is merely based on an assumption and on ones skin colour. The PLP love to play the race card when assembling supporters but are the first to be so offensive. The PLP themselves admitted that if the PRC holders were granted status, 1200 of them would vote OBA because they are white. Youre fueling your political protests with hate simply to gain the upper hand from supporters yet claim to be for Bermuda and progress. How could we progress when youre teaching our children to hate because of predicted assumptions. In fact, you are promoting Politics over Progress. You would prefer to remain in the fictitious war because of race, political domination and assumptions rather and than grant Bemudians status.
