Did satan know the plan of God for Jesus? No, he didn’t, for the Bible says it plainly that if he had known it he wouldn’t have crucified Him (1 Cor.2:8). Jesus Christ was a mystery to satan. Satan had been struggling with the problem of who the seed of the woman would be ever since God promised that the seed would crush his head (Gen. 3:15). That was the reason he had to kill thousands of children in search of Jesus because he had no insight into the heart and mind of God. He had no idea how his head was going to be crushed. That is the reason when he had concluded that Jesus was the Son of God he decided he would stop Him from crushing his head by killing Him; and he played right where God wanted him. He shed the spotless Blood of the Son of God. Don’t you know that was an own goal? Satan pulled the pin of the hand-grenade and held on to it instead of throwing it away! It exploded right in his face! And that was game over! Spotless Blood cannot die; that’s why you can’t die either when it washes you. All that had to be done in order to bring us back into fellowship with our Father. Don’t you just love our Father God?
