Did they make an uproar when Hilary Swank won? What about Transamerica? Did we get pissed when Tom Hanks played a gay man? Could it be the fact that (god forbid) a straight (cis as they call it) man is playing a transgender woman that there is an issue? People really need to take a minute or a week and reassess the battles they decide on fighting and stop attacking someone who was obviously more than gracious and humble to take on this role and offer a platform that wouldnt have existed for transgender folk, with or without HIV. Is he only allowed to play roles written for white guys with beards and long hair? No. He is an actor. He, I imagine, auditioned for the role and was chosen by the director. If you all keep making people walk on eggshells for every little tiny thing that may not be exactly what you want...when the real issues come up...your reaction isnt going to get you anywhere like the boy who cried wolf. Stop trying to take away someones merit and pride because of who they are...it is counter productive. #fighttherealenemy
