Did you Know......... Our buddy Bob Hickerson found one again. At this point in time, we should get it straight. So ZooKeeper will post “Did you Know” facts on the lionfish for all to share. Lionfish have up to 21 venomous (again....VENOMOUS and NOT Poisonous!!!) spines, usually 12 to 13 dorsal, 2 pelvic and 3 anal. The difference? Poison (poi·son) \ˈpȯi-zən\ :a substance that can cause people or animals to die or to become very sick if it gets into their bodies especially by being swallowed Venom (ven·om) \ˈve-nəm\ : a substance that is produced by an animal (such as a snake) and used to kill or injure another animal usually through biting or stinging Bob Hickerson
