Did you hear about the dream that we helped to come true at the 5th Annual The STARS Come Out at Night Comedy Ball? Heres how it all started: bit.ly/1ysxtRN We fulfilled a dream for Ireland and her mom, Nichole, last Sunday evening. Ireland is a young girl who has Down syndrome and was diagnosed with leukemia in April 2014. It has become a tradition for DS Action to recognize an individual with Down syndrome who faces medical challenges and their family, at our annual Comedy Ball fundraiser, by creating a way to celebrate life for a child and family in need. For the past 3 years, we have asked the community to come together by showing their support and making a dream come true, during the event. This year, we recognized Ireland, by asking guests to bid on Santa (who attends our event each year and is VERY popular). Also, we had been working with people in the community to provide gifts, for Ireland, to put in Santas big red bag. The highest bid would provide this amazing experience for Ireland and her mom. Also, the money raised will be going to support the Down Syndrome Center at Rady Childrens Hospital-San Diego, in Irelands name. She will have the honor of delivering the check. (We will keep you posted on the date of this unveiling.) The rest of the story is so inspiring.... it caused everyone at the event to cry, hug, smile and even stand on their chairs in amazement.
