Did you know... You can think of Social Security as the Peoples - TopicsExpress

Did you know... You can think of Social Security as the Peoples Bank. It has almost $3 trillion on deposit from payroll deductions. That money is loaned out to fund other government operations - mostly the military - at a lower rate than if the money had been borrowed from China, Japan, or Saudi Arabia. Social Security keeps the elderly out of poverty, reduces the amount of money the nation pays in interest, provides us with a bit of interest income to grow our money, and keeps more of our money in the country. In what way is this not a good deal for the American taxpayer? The biggest problems with Social Security is that Congress has control of it and the conservatives want to "redistribute" our $3 trillion to the wealthy. Think of this every time you hear them say "entitlement".
