Did you know if you unknowingly pass suspect and/or counterfeit money you will lose your money? I went to a bank atm drive thru today. Withdraw cash. Went to a store to spend the cash. When penned bills came back suspect (That would be suspect to being counterfeit). They give back the suspect bills, I pay then go back to the bank where I got the suspect money. Bank says there isnt any way it can be proved the bills came from them. Told me I had to send the cash to the US Treasury. Send cash through the mail? Really? Bank gives me the telephone number for the secret service. Secret Service: USPS the cash to secret service. Me: If I do what happens next? Secret Service: .an investigation. Me: When do I get my money back. Secret Service: You dont. Me: I*$()@_#$@E)_@# WHAT? Back into the bank I go - nope they wont give me real money. Yes, I feel like I am in a nightmare. I would not have believed in a million years that I could get suspect and/or counterfeit money from a bank and lose my money. Never, ever, ever. This is so wrong in many, many ways. Even if I was investigated and shown to not be a counterfeiter there isnt anyone to give me my money back. I do feel strongly that a bank should assure people that ALL money the bank hands out is real! Comments please.
