Did you like this month banner? Meet the artist! Ed Moffatt is a member of Game Art HQ community. You can check out his works at his deviantArt page: edmoffatt.deviantart and his Facebook page: Ed Moffatt - Artist. We asked Ed to tell us about himself, his art and Dwelling Of Duels, so heres what he shared with us About video game art: I’ve been drawing pretty much all my life. The first video game that really influenced me was Street Fighter 2 — I played so much of it with my brother, and I used to fill sketchbooks with my own character designs, complete with their own stages and special moves! I progressed to drawing my own comics when I was 14: I’d draw a new issue every fortnight, go to the local PostOffice to photocopy it, then sell it around the school for 50p a time, which I’d use to fund the next photocopying run! Nowadays, drawing is my main hobby, and also my job. I’m a visual designer working on software by day, and I draw a lot in my free time too! There’s so much stuff I want to draw — it’s really just finding time for it! I work on video game projects with XMPT Games, a group I set up with some friends, and we’re working on a frisbee-slinging arena combat game called Disc Storm right now. Pretty much any game I play and enjoy makes me want to do fan art too. About Dwelling of Duels: I did an interview about game dev stuff on an internet radio station, and the DJ linked me a bunch of DoD stuff to listen to — that was just a few months back. I play in a Prog Metal band myself (vocals and guitar) and so I think it’s easy to see why some of the DoD stuff appeals to me. This DoD banner is my first ever involvement in the scene as an artist. It’s been great fun, and people can get in touch with me via my DeviantArt page if they’re interested in working with me! I’m mostly working through the back catalogue at the moment (starting with anything Street Fighter of Fighting Game related since that’s my really big video game music passion!). Can’t wait to hear the Chrono Trigger and FFVI stuff though, and I’ll definitely continue to follow future duels. The quality of music is freakin’ awesome. So many different takes on each theme that somehow all appeal to me. I mean, first I’m listening to some djent riffage with sweep picking punctuating the melody, and then all of a sudden in the next song there’s this wicked Rush-esque section… Favorite DoD month: Ryu Theme Month. I enjoyed the slightly narrower theme which meant I could really get to hear the differences in the various artists’ interpretations of the theme and enjoy comparing what they’d created. Favorite DoD song: Affection State — Street Fighter
