Did you read the Hot on the trail article in AA Directions - TopicsExpress

Did you read the Hot on the trail article in AA Directions magazine! To our horror the Timber Trail wasnt one of the 50 fabulous finds. Instead there was a report written by someone who honestly admitted to not being a cyclist or walker AND not have trained at all before tackling our 2 to 3 day forest and mountain bike tour! Karl, what were you thinking. This is a bit like those overseas visitors tackling the Tongariro Crossing in summer , dressed in shorts and jandals without as much as a drop of slip slap. The article does include descriptions about excitement and fun but starts with a highlighted caption one page 1 using wrong and problem in one phrase. In the text Karl continues to describe pain, exhaustion, defeat and despair. The closing sentence talks about and exhaustive range of maladies that has befallen his fatigued body. An article in the AA can be a huge support for the budding tourism businesses around the trail who are trying to do what the trail was created for; create a job and a living in rural New Zealand . There are potentially close to one million readers, including a high representation of baby boomers who may have been discouraged to ride the trail. The majority of our guests are baby boomers but we have only had a couple of people foolish enough to attempt the trail without training. Enough said; when we invite Paris Hilton to write a Timber Trail report for National Geographic well make sure to offer a free boot-camp and PT and tip her off that high heels and rucksacks dont go together very well;Michelle! Karl, here is an interesting article about how you could have prepared for your ride. May come in handy before you write your next report.
