Diesel fuel is $3.71 / gallon on I-85. Why? Diesel is a direct product resulting from the refining of a barrel of oil as it separates under pressure into a lot if useful products. Nothing more needs to be done in order for diesel to power a diesel engine. Except what govt regulations require which adds to the cost. Think about this: if we were able, through a more robust American energy policy, to lower the price of a gallon of fuel by just $1.00, that is $300 savings per fill-up for 18 wheelers which are moving goods around the nation. I believe there would be tremendous trickle-down savings on the prices we pay at the store.
