Difference between Teacher, Trainer and Educator! Having juvenile - TopicsExpress

Difference between Teacher, Trainer and Educator! Having juvenile perception about the definition of Teacher, Trainer and Educator, I assumed all of three as more or less the same because they all deal with group of students; their important tools are like books, sticks and rewards. Till the time I had not come across an interesting article captioned as above I was not able to distinguish between teacher, trainer or educator. I would like to share the example quoted in that article referring an incident of group of girl students aged about 12 years who just out of curiosity to derive some pleasure got into the habit of using lipstick and leaving dozens of lip prints on the mirror in the washroom. This was creating great problem for the housekeeping person as end of everyday she had to remove those lip prints and next day the girls would put them again. The housekeeping person explained her problem to the teacher of the suspected group of girls and asked her to teach them a lesson. The teacher explained in a way something like “Dear girls as some of you are using lipstick and putting lip prints on the mirror which is not good and troubling the maintenance staff a lot. You all make it a point to stop all this immediately otherwise parents of all of you would be called and you all will be punished” (you can just imagine the yawns or cunning smiles from the little princesses). Inspite of penalizing the whole group the problem was still persisting hence the matter was escalated to the trainer for giving behavioral training to the group. Trainer started giving some presentations, illustrating some live examples to make the students understand the consequences of mischief and suggested them to behave like sensible students. To create some fear among the students, he made the girls cleaning their desks with a warning that if they will continue with their naughtiness then they will have to clean the washroom mirror also. The change was seen in the students but was not long-lasting. Finally the problem was taken to the Principal (true educator). To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, Principal asked the maintenance person to show the girls how much effort was required. Housekeeping lady took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Imagine what happened after that: Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror…. This story made me understand that how an Educator is distinct from teacher or trainer though the job and responsibilities of all three are same but their way is different. As rightly said by renowned motivator/speaker Shiv Khera “Winners don’t do different things they do the things differently” Same way Educators don’t teach different things but they teach differently”. Though Education is the extensive part of teaching the books but goes beyond the boundaries of school/college and not a forte of any particular profession which needs any specific technical training. Education is the way of understanding the psychology of a particular group as per their age, impact of surroundings on them etc. and can only be done by influencing and inspiring the youngsters in positive way which can be done by teacher, parent, friends, neighbors, colleagues, supporter well wisher or any other person who is committed to bring the positive change and can diagnose the right problem and effective remedy irrespective of their status, profession or age. The real education is to influence the behavior, mind and life of any person and not necessarily a child/student has the scope to learn everything even sometimes highly qualified professionals, parents and elders need to learn and know new things to grow day by day and keep pace with the changing time. HAPPY TEACHERS DAY TO ALL WHO INSPIRE AND CHANGE THE LIFE OF OTHERS WITH THEIR DEEDS AND UNSPOKEN SUPPORT! MY BEST TEACHERS ARE : My Parents! Who are yours?
