Difference of opinion is kei te pai whanau. But disappointed to - TopicsExpress

Difference of opinion is kei te pai whanau. But disappointed to see personal insults towards Leonie Pihama for her grounded critique of the Dead Lands movie. She has spent her life committed to upholding kaupapa Maori. I am aware we all have different opinions of what that even means. She is particularly dedicated to providing a path for Maori women to have a place in researching/disseminating and advocating for our tupuna wisdoms. She speaks up even when she is challenging the work of her own whanau and friends - she sticks to the issues and needs no personal insults to do so. She shows dignity when challenging - more dignity than what I have sometimes shown when I have had strong opinions against people. Maori women are not always publicly forthcoming with our opinions because of the very hostilities that Leonie has faced for much of her life. I respect all the different opinions people have for the Dead Lands movie. I am learning and reflecting from them all. And I mostly enjoyed the movie myself. Nga mihi Leonie.
