While the pros of the tankless water heater are many, they too have their share of cons. They have higher up front costs that are can be as much as three or four times a conventional system, installing is complicated and can be more expensive, the burner element that heats the water is limited to natural gas, and untreated water can lead to scaling and reduced water flow.
