Dilemma of the Day: So I went to a friends wedding as a guest. Because I am photographer I carry my camera around everywhere. So I took some pictures, making sure to stay out of the main photographers way. I understood this was her paid job. I am just the friend who wanted to take pictures and maybe get a few awesome ones. Well I ended up having to shadow the other photographer. She kept giving generic everyone-line-up in front of this pretty barn, or bush and smile. My friend was kind of looking distressed and even asked about fun photos and the photographers answer was to move to another location and do the same poses with whole bridal party. So I started suggesting things like the bride walk with the flower girls. The groom pick up the bride or dip her down. Fun things that make memorable photos. The photographer obviously got miffed with me, but after the wedding my friend called me during the honeymoon telling me how I saved her wedding photos. Now the photographer is angry at me demanding I send my photos to her for copy right issues and even refusing to give her pictures to the bride saying there was breech of contract with another photographer (me) being there. I feel bad, because my few pictures I got turned out very nicely and one was asked to be used in a window advertisement from where the bride the got the dress. I know my pictures are mine and no photographer can take them from me. I hardly ever do weddings, so I have no idea how wedding photographers contracts work. I feel bad for my friend because she spent a lot of money and the only professional pictures she has are mine. The wedding was 5 months ago - nearly two months late from when the photographer promised to give her her photos. Its my fault this happened, but I am not sure what to do. #MWDilemma
