Dinner Review of Carnation Café This is my third visit in a week, It just gets better and better. I went for a late dinner and was seated quickly and water was promptly served. I ordered a French Dip and asked for Med rare to rare. And garlic mashed potatoes. The dip came and the meat was well done so they took it back. They toasted the meat, cheese and loaves in a toaster, hence the rare meat turning to done. So they redid my dip, only toasting the bread and then putting the rare meat and cheese on. The heat from the loaf warmed up the meat but it stayed rare. The Au jus was nice and hot and the bread was very tender. The owner, Carlene made my sandwich and delivered it and made sure I was happy with it. The mashed potatoes were homemade Yukon gold that she made today with half/half or cream, butter and garlic. And she left the skins on and it was superb. I am very picky on my garlic mashed potatoes as I make a quite a mean mashed garlic potato but this was fantastic. And again, true to form, the serving was generous. Did I mention that I got TWO LOAVES of French dip. I only ate one and was full. All of this for ten bucks....such a deal. They boxed up my meal and even gave me some Au Jus mix so I could add hot water at home and have fresh juice! How thoughtful is that! I chatted with Carlene and her husband (forgot his name) and they take your feedback seriously. Apparently they addressed the long wait time last weekend by getting a couple more chefs who are faster/better in the kitchen. I only waited about 7-10 minutes before I got my meal. They really care about their restaurant and value your business. They are trying to address the concerns and do realize they still will have some growing pains. But I will say, the food has been generous and well presented and excellent. Some times you get will get a French Dip and the meat is chewy....not this place.....very tender and of high quality. They take pride in the food and service and also want to get more involved with the local community by hiring local folks. They plan to stay and want to make your dining experience a happy one. I tell you he felt bad about last Sunday wait for meals and he took action to rectify this week..so those of you that had a long wait last week, he has addressed this issue and you can tell he felt bad about that. So of the three dining experience, each time it gets better. I give 5 stars for food, presentation, wait time (none), concern for your pleasurable dining experience and price. The menu has a wide variety from steak to seafood to salads. So something for everyone. I am happy they are here and kudos to them for trying to make the customers dining experience a happy one. Highly recommend!
