Dipankar Barman, a visually-challenged professor of Bapujee College has won the Young Achievers Award (AOF) from the eastern region. He is among five such individuals chosen from the country. A student of Guwahati Blind School, Basistha, Dipankar later did his Master’s degree in Political Science from the Gauhati University and LLB from the same university. He also obtained national scholarship for students with disability from the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in year 2005-06. He was also a member of the committee on Course and Studies of Department of Disabilities Studies, GU. The award is given by Amway Opportunity Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India which had instituted the award in 2013 to recognize the talent of young achievers from the differently-abled section of society. - goo.gl/LHDGMA
