Direct quote to myself from a Nanaimo Dr today The BC government - TopicsExpress

Direct quote to myself from a Nanaimo Dr today The BC government has trained all its physicians and mandates them to do all assessments in 10 minutes, the clinic who employs me will not let me see a patient for more than 10 minutes Now I am not a stupid person and over the years have worked at many jobs at the periphery of health care; and I am well aware that many assessments can be done well in 10 minutes . I also know that this does not work in all medical circumstances. Have had the privilege of observing many excellent health care practitioners and have witnessed some take more than 10 minutes. I really question if death rates have risen in BC under the current regime and if so how many can be attributed to the ten minute Dr!??? If I could afford to I would be breaking my lease on my beautiful apt and moving to Alberta where people are still treated with dignity and empathy and not just a $ sign. Not much wonder so many docs on the island can afford to work part time when the few days they do work they see and get paid for a patient every 10 min. In other words if they are being paid the avg for each patient they are earning $600 an hour! Please dont get me wrong, over the years I have met many dedicated docs who I would say even go above and beyond! Unfortunately I have witnessed the exact opposite on the Island (with exception of doc I had in Ladysmith.) Makes me very sad that mankind as come down to this! One last note is Primary Health Care being practiced in BC? So far I have not seen this model being used in BC and wonder why?
