Director of Pastoral Care Steve Brown reminds us in our overhead - TopicsExpress

Director of Pastoral Care Steve Brown reminds us in our overhead devotion this morning that no matter what storms we face in our life, we never face them alone. God is always with us. Before we begin our daily devotional let’s pause for a moment of silence for those who suffered loss of life and property in last night’s tornadoes. God’s peace be with you! Yesterday’s storms were intensely powerful and long lasting. Many of you embodied the reality of Christ’s message to “never leave us or forsake us” by hunkering down with our patients and family members and riding out the storm. Others of us hunkered down in our safe place with our own family. But the truth is we all face storms in our lives every day. The good news is we are never alone. One speaker took a large piece of paper and made a black dot in the center of it with a marking pen. Then he held the paper up before the group and asked them what they saw. One person quickly replied, “I see a black mark.” “OK, what else do you see?” There was complete silence. Finally the speaker said, “I’m really surprised, you have completely overlooked the most important thing of all—the sheet of paper.” It is well to remember that the good things are far more important than the problems that grab our attention. Someone has written: “As you travel down life’s pathway, may this ever be your goal: Keep your eye upon the doughnut, and not upon the hole!” May we pray? Lord, even in the midst of our doubt remind us of your perfect peace. In your holy name we pray.—Amen
