*Discerning What Is Right* Philippians 1:10 (KJV) .That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. ../.. . The apostle Paul, in his prayer for the Philippians church, makes a direct correlation between love abounding in our lives and our ability to discern that which is excellent. In essence, Pauls prayer for the Philippians church reveals that as our love abounds so does our discernment of right and wrong. . This two things must go hand in hand. Discernment without love ends in legalism and self-righteousness. However, when the two are combined in the way Paul prays for the Philippians, then the result is a body of believers who, like Jesus, are full of grace and truth. . This is the kind of prayer we need to be praying for brothers and sisters in Christ who make up our local church. And we must earnestly seek to model discerning love in our interactions with those inside the body of Christ and those yet to experience the salvation available in Jesus Christ.
