Disclaimer: I am not anti science, to the contrary I am fascinated - TopicsExpress

Disclaimer: I am not anti science, to the contrary I am fascinated and in awe of what we have discovered through its use, but I do have what I believe to be a legitimate question. If science is constantly changing and they are constantly finding out that they were wrong about this and now know more about that. Why are we expected to have complete faith in it now as it is? I see some serious guilting and blaming and name calling going on towards those who question certain things supported by conventional science. It seems that the term pseudo science is thrown around a lot whenever a popular theory is questioned or an unconventional idea is talked about. However it seems to me that all scientific discoveries started out as a wild idea that went against popular belief, all the amazing discoveries we have made were questioned not only by those of faith, but by those of science. There was a time when doctors believed that formula feeding a child was healthier than breastfeeding and it was supported by science. Not that long ago doctors believed that the cause of SIDS was mothers sleeping with their children. The list goes on and on. I embrace science, I am in awe of what we are capable of through its use. I just cant take the popular opinion as the ultimate truth. Apparently this makes me irresponsible. When I read all points of view I am accused of buying into bad science. There a re a lot of people out there who preach about trusting doctors and scientists, but apparently this only applies to the popular ones.
