Disclaimer: Mom seeking advice. If you have strong feelings on medicating young children, you may express yourself but please do it in such a way that youre not condescending or judgmental. If you are, we may remove your comment. Thank you. Looking for advice. Ever since my 5 year old was 1..even younger...she was a handful. But as she got older her tantrums became worse..lasted longer..more violent (to herself her older sister and myself).. There is discipline.. Didnt make a difference. There was major mood swings..she could run on little sleep. She went to a specialist and was diagnosed as being bipolar (please dont judge this)..and she was put on meds (no judging.. It was what was best for us)..and things improved immensely.. She still had her days but hey shes a kid. So last month she was rushed to hospital then transferred to childrens hospital because she had a seizure that lasted over 2 hours before they could stop it. Every test came back normal..but she will re do some in 3 months. The neurologist put her on seizure medication.. And a child psychiatrist took her off her other meds. Apparently there is a mild mood stabilizer In this medication but Im seeing her old temper return. Looking for tips on how to handle these aggressive violent outbursts...other than change diet tips. She does eat a lot of healthy food.
