Displaced Tiv Communities to return soon. His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has said that modalities are now complete for the displaced Tiv communities to be safely returned to their home communities. Gov. Almakura made this known during a meeting with the Tiv Leaders at the Government House Lafia which was attended by Tiv Elders and youths , stakeholders, government officials and the Chairmen of the affected LGA Doma, Awe, Obi, Keana, and Lafia, where he lauded the Tiv leaders for opening up to the state government on modalities of the return for their people. The governor expressed confidence in the resolve of the Fulani community to support towards the success of the initiative, regretted the recent security upheavals at Iggah , which he said has distorted the initial plan. Gov. Almakura explained that as part of effort to ensure success of the exercise, the committee that has been saddled with the responsibility of returning the displaced persons has been expanded following the inclusion of critical stakeholders. He made it known that the current security bases would also be intensified to make the situation where the Tiv persons carry out their activities without hindrance, as well as the provision of mobile clinics to look after their health. Responding on behalf of the Tiv community in the state, Chairman, Barrister Gabriel Akaka appreciated the governor for his administration s commitment to the wellbeing of the people of Nasarawa State. The Chairman of Doma Local Government Council, Henry Omaku who spoke on behalf of the Chairmen of the affected local government assured that they would always contribute their quota towards complementing the efforts of the state government to ensure the safe and peace return.
