Dissing Esperanto? One reader didnt like my column today on Betty and I becoming empty nesters: Please, I am not so good with English ( nor the language you speak in Chicago) but what is a random diplomat ? I speak and use Esperanto since 1969 and I meet all sorts of people from all countries. In my guestbook are all kind of signatures made by professors, teachers, ship-builders, authors, farmers, opera singers, librarians, students, children, men and women all ages. I would never had met any from South Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Peru, New Zeeland, Burundi, Morocco, Khazakstan or Dagestan without Esperanto, just using my schoolenglish. The idea with Esperanto is that high and low can meet at the same table and speak as equals. The picture of former president of Austria Franz Jonas dining with a housewife from Finland is quite good. No random diplomats they need to speak to each other.
