Disturbing conversation last night. Me: How long have you taught English? Teacher: 5 years. Me: Whos your favorite writer? Teacher: I dont have one. Me: Oh, ok. Do you enjoy teaching? Teacher: I dont enjoy teaching English. Id rather teach math. Me: Do you have a degree in English? Teacher: No. Im certified to teach anything. Me: So how does a math geek go about teaching English? Teacher: The same way I teach math. Its about structure and evaluation. Me: How do you teach alliteration or irony? Teacher: I dont. Its not allowed. Me: Im sorry. Did you say its not allowed? Teacher: Yes. Its too creative. This seriously happened last night while meeting a group of teachers. Im still in shock. Thoughts, anyone?
