Division 7 Preview SAAFL© MATCHES in round 12 loom as - TopicsExpress

Division 7 Preview SAAFL© MATCHES in round 12 loom as one-sided contests with big discrepancies, a theme that has been prominent throughout the year. North Pines, Houghton, Adelaide University and Sacred Heart Old Collegians are all expected to win comfortably but as history as shown, upsets could occur. Although Modbury sit a game above North Pines, the Redbacks have been much more competitive against the top teams and consistent throughout the 11 rounds. Full forward Phillip Dudley could be prove to be difference between the two sides. On recent form North Pines will go into this match favourite, however, Modbury will be hopeful of recording a victory to extend the gap between them and the rest of the division. Houghton has moved into top position after Smithfield was deducted points and will also be buoyed by its big win over Wingfield Royals. The Raiders showed they will be prominent around finals time and will fancy their chances against Henley. Inconsistency has plagued the Sharks season thus far, struggling to field their strongest side each week and failing to match the top tier sides. This week they will find the pressure and big bodies of the Raiders too strong and all but end their quest for a finals berth. The gap between Smithfield and the rest of the Division was clearly made evident at the weekend, as Adelaide University failed to trouble the Panthers. The blockbuster match as many expect did not live up to its expectations and further demonstrated that Smithfield is the side to beat. Uni, however, have a chance to bounce back when they host Wingfield. Languishing at the foot of the table, the Royals have found life in Division 7 extremely difficult, but in recent weeks, have shown signs of improvement. Adelaide University will benefit from last week’s loss and make amends at the weekend against Wingfield. To conclude round 12, eighth placed SMOSH West Lakes will be hoping to improve its record to 3-8 when they host Sacred Heart Old Collegians. A win for SHOC will keep their finals aspirations alive whilst a loss could end their season. With that to play for, SHOC will easily account for the Lions.
