Diwali Awareness !! must read and must share this ... Its very amusing to see a rocket fire cracker sore into the sky and spurt in colours , A loud bomb echoing through the night lifting your ego.. Diwali Is the most auspicious festival , but at the same time we pay a big price while burning crackers. I have listed a few points from various sources about the ill-effects of crackers during the festival. The ill effects from noise pollution on one’s health can include hearing impairment, hypertension, ischemic heart disease and sleep disturbance. Bursting crackers well into the middle of the night is also a cruel way of ensuring people who do want to hit the bed are held ransom to torturous decibels. Noise can especially be uncomfortable to senior citizens, pregnant women and infants. Cracker rampage usually shrouds the city in unpleasant smog. Burning crackers releases toxic chemicals into the air, these inevitably affect those breathing in the air — us. The Respirable Suspended Particulate Matter (RSPM) — dust, fumes, smoke, and gases in our big cities is already well above permissible limits and this only worsens during festivals like Diwali. As per a study done by Chest Research Foundation (CRF), Pune, fire-crackers increase the level of sulphur dioxide 200-fold above the safety limits prescribed by World Health Organisation (WHO). The pollution can trigger asthma attacks and cause new cases of asthma. Sulfur dioxide: Causes wheezing and shortness of breath. Cadium: Can cause anemia and damage to kidney and also affect the nervous system Copper: Irritates respiratory tract Lead: Affects the nervous system Magnesium: Can cause metal fume fever Nitrate: Can cause mental impairment Nitrite: Can cause skin problems, eye irritation, and respiratory problems in children. Animals go through a confusing time during Diwali. The sudden explosion of light and sounds disorients them and makes them nervous. Many strays go into hiding or run into traffic during this time. Birds also react with fear and may abandon nests. What the law says The Supreme Court of India, observing that the “right to peaceful sleep” is a fundamental right of the citizens, has banned crackers between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am during the Dussehra and Diwali festival. The Central Pollution Control Board has banned fire-crackers with a decibel level of more than 125 at a distance of 4 meter. The festival of lights may bring joy to humans, but it is an absolute nightmare for animals. Loud firecrackers going off at street corners gravely affect them, both mentally and physically. “Stray animals are affected even more as they may be run over by vehicles when they run to seek shelter. People even tie firecrackers to their tails which causes injury, even death. We thought it’s time to be a little more compassionate to animals and make people aware of how harmful firecrackers are to them,”A common mischief of tying crackers to the tails of stray dogs and cats claims several lives every year as the animals die of injuries. Sky crackers such as rockets disturb the birds dangerously, even killing and displacing them. The impact of crackers on the birds and animals is profound, say experts. The high decibel levels lead to behavioral changes even leading to shock and death. The crackers remains on the roads and localities which these animals chew and have long-term health complications as they damage the intestines,This information has just been gathered here for your awareness. You may now comply or yet go ahead with your way of celebrating the festival. P. S DIWALI IS THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS …. NOT SOUND.
