Do You KNOW You have Eternal Life? "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." 1 John 5:13 KJV Are you truly saved, or do you just “know Christ?” In some cases people believe they are saved when, in actuality, they are not. I want to help you be assured of your salvation… Many millions of people “know Christ,” but very few have “received” Him into their hearts. There are men and women who have spent the majority of their lives learning about Jesus…and even love him…but have never actually invited Him into their lives. Jesus says: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Rev 3:20 KJV Many people have invited Jesus to their dinner party, and He willingly came to knock on their front door. Through the glass, they see Him, and wave enthusiastically. They shout out to all of their friends “Hey, look! It’s Jesus! I know Him! You guys know him, too, right? Let me tell you some of His stories…” Then, lost in conversation about how much they know of and love Jesus, they forget to ever open the door to let Him in. The Lord says if any man hear His voice, and open the door, He will come in to him. How else can Jesus dine with you unless you open the door? Sadly, Jesus said: “He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” John 1:11 KJV Those are people who call themselves Christians and even claim Jesus as their Savior. He said He came unto His own and they received Him not… The scripture goes on to say: “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matt 7:22-23 KJV Oh, how that scripture breaks my heart! These are church-goers! God’s words are so very important to Him. He holds His word above even His name, and we are saved by the name of Jesus! “I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou has magnified thy word above all thy name.” Psa 138:2 KJV So, how can we know that, even though we claim Jesus as our savior, we are truly in His elect….the “few” who find the way? “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be few that find it.” Matt 7:14 KJV Let’s go back to the scripture: “He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” The next verse is where your comfort comes… “But as many as received him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” John 1:11-12 KJV Receiving is a call to action. We have to physically receive the Lord Jesus into our lives to be saved. We have to walk over to the door and open it so He can come in… We can’t just claim His name, we can’t just claim Him as Savior. We must, must, must actively receive Him into our lives. If you have any doubt of your salvation, bow your head in prayer right now, and say: “Lord Jesus, you stand at the door and knock, and I am opening the door to invite you into my life right now. Thank you for dying for my sins. Thank you for coming into my life, and for your promise that you will never leave me nor forsake me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.” If you have just done that for the first time, or recommitted your heart, please email me directly...inspiredwomanpublications@gmail
