Do any of my animal loving friends have any friends that have had eye surgery on an animal to remove cataracts? I was wondering about cost and likelihood that it will actually help. The only doggie eye doc I know of is in Albuquerque. My elderly dog is about 16 if I had to guess. I took her in about 2 years ago. We have since had over half her teeth removed due to rot and one of her eyes had to be taken out because it started swelling and then started crusting over. I would really like her to be able to see out of her other eye for as long as possible, and trying to decide if the cost is something I could cover. Shes already my most expensive child. I know she has some vision in her remaining eye, but not alot. Is it worth the cost for such an old dog? I still expect her to live a few years based on her current condition. What is the average cost? Is it something that is hard to recover from? Her eye removal recovery was hard on both of us. Ive tried to call the eye dr in Alb, but can never get anyone to answer the phone.
