Do internet temp workers have any rights at all? I know temp - TopicsExpress

Do internet temp workers have any rights at all? I know temp workers have few rights. Do temp workers on line have even less? Anyone know? I ask because.... (Ive just about crossed the line with a job Ive been training for for months now --working, it turns out--for the biggest baddest textbook co. in the world (perhaps?)The co. Id applied to is their subsidiary but they shifted me over to work for the parent co. I knew one didnt receive pay until the end of training but it looks like now we may not receive pay w/o completing training. There were a lot of tech problems and very spotty support, which took a lot of time and now they have cut off the number of hours of training I can turn in but, meanwhile, this trainer keeps adding steps in the training. They want robotic response to essays according to their rules-- some of it I have no problem with; other issues are more problematic. So in other words, multiple levels of cognitive dissonance for me, and a lot of humiliation. The only reason for applying for this--initially almost a year ago now--is that I make almost nothing in everything else I do, I got stuck with some bills that were not mine, & I cannot live on nothing. This is not to mention debt and bills I should be paying,,,--those were not going to be touched at $9 an hour. My potential decision is really pedagogical--even if the tech stuff is worked out and I completed the training and began making $12 an hour, (probably more than my adjunct teacher salary if it were per hr worked) I think Id lose too much self respect as an educator being a robot for this monolith. One thing worse than a machine taking a persons job is hiring a person to mimic that machines work... So I began to wonder whether I should quit or let them dismiss me. I dont know that I will get $ either way--ive put in about 20 plus hours official work and weeks of frustration. I dont know if this kind of thing shows up on a record somewhere. I cant think who would use it against me. Ive never talked to anyone there, except a tech person about computer connection issues--all comm. via internet. I signed a big long contract way back but I remember wondering at the time if any of it applied to my rights as a worker.
