Do people know Im giving a big public talk, Greg Epstein: Whats a Humanist Hub?, at 1:30-3pm today? Feeling off my (self?-)promotion game this new academic year, having taken summer off doing weekly fb posts* about community happenings, a practice Ill now resume. Today will be great: Ill introduce all of our big plans for our first full year in our beautiful 3200 sq. ft. space, well discuss them; Sam & Caroline will introduce their brand new baby & well do a ceremony welcoming him; Thomas Anderson Bookwalter and the Hub band debut an original song; well discuss more of the research for James & my in-process book, showing why community participation is so vital to our health, happiness, and society-- even for total atheists! There might even be a quick little secular parable involving sheep & birds, but I promise: very shortly after you groan/LOL/nod fascinatedly at that, will follow great refreshments in honor of the new baby, & meaningful mingling with amazing people. In short-- come check it out. Bringing a new friend is encouraged; well scootch over & make space. NO HARVARD AFFILIATION NEEDED. WHATSOEVER. Special thanks to Sarah Chandonnet & Jade for having done such amazing work all summer getting ready for all this. Youll be impressed by what theyve achieved. (*Something about an unusual summer involving a wedding, or four.)
