Do you deal with anxiety, fast heart beating when stressful times come, nail biting, nervous habits, stuttering, panic attacks, irritability because of stress? What does the scripture say about the subject of Fear? Two primary scriptures come to mind. The first is 2 Timothy 1:7, the next is Philippians 4: 6-7. God is not the of the origin of the spirit of fear, anxiety or fear. These feelings come from a lack of first who our Father is and how He feels about us. If God be for us who can be against us? When our mind looks at the circumstances and they look contrary to what we were thinking we may have a habit of becoming afraid but Paul tells his spiritual son Timothy that God is not the originator of this spirit but that God has given us love, power and a sound mind. Secondly, God will answer all our prayers and in return give us peace because God has not called for us to live a life of anxiety and worry about the cares of this world. 2 Timothy 1:7 King James Version (KJV) 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Fear: gr. deilia: timidity, fearfulness, cowardice Power: gr. dynamis: strength power, ability; inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth; power for performing miracles; moral power and excellence of soul Love: gr. agape: affection, good will, love, benevolence Sound mind: gr. sophronismos: an admonishing or calling to soundness of mind, to moderation and self-control Philippians 4:6-7 New King James Version (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
