Hello and welcome to our latest newsletter, in which we will update you on the latest status of our appeal. Heart of the Community award Firstly, a huge thank you to everybody that voted for us in the Heart of the Community award. It was all worth it, because we have just found out that we have won one of the awards! This is fantastic news and makes a big difference to our fighting fund. We’ll be told at the end of the month which award we have won, and we’ll be sure to update you then. LHAG puts in its appeal We are pleased to be able to tell you that our appeal is proceeding full steam ahead. Since our last newsletter, we have achieved two important milestones: we have submitted our skeleton argument and we have also submitted our appeal bundle, which contains all the essential documents for the case. The skeleton argument outlines the key features of the case we will be putting forward. We have put a lot of work into this, and we’re extremely happy with the results! Now, we can look forward to the appeal itself, which is currently scheduled to be held either on April 30th or May 1st 2014. We won’t know until at most a week before the appeal which of these two dates has been chosen. Fundraising events On Friday 1st November, Coldharbour staged its popular bonfire night. We took advantage of this fundraising opportunity by making lots of soup to sell, together with toffee apples and glow sticks. This raised us £505. Our snooker and bar games evening this coming Friday is now sold out. So thanks to those of our supporters who are coming! As a reminder: we have two other events this year to entice you with. These are a black tie dinner and a bridge tea. The bridge tea is tomorrow, 13th November, at West Campfield Place, Leith Hill; please arrive at 1:45pm for a 2pm start. Tea, sandwiches and homemade cake will be served and there will also be prizes and a raffle. A table costs £30; contact Mary Adair at [email protected] for entry, or use this entrance form, which also includes all the details. The black tie dinner is on Saturday 7th December. This will include a fabulous three course dinner, a glass of bubbly, live classical background music and after-dinner entertainments. There will also be a raffle with lots of splendid prizes. The setting will be the beautiful and atmospheric Christ Church in Coldharbour. Arrive from 7pm with dinner served from 7:30pm. Tickets cost £35 per person and are advance purchase only. Email [email protected] to book. Places for the black tie dinner are strictly limited so don’t delay. Over a third of the tickets have already been sold. In order to have sufficient time to organise ourselves, the cut-off date for booking a ticket is Sunday 1st December. If you already have a ticket but are planning to also bring friends and family, it would be really helpful if you could book these extra tickets as soon as possible! You can find both these events, together with any other events we will announce, on our fundraising page. Fundraising position We have some further fantastic news on the fundraising front. Mole Valley District Council have agreed to provide £5,000 of funding for our campaign! We owe a big thanks to the district councillors for their faith in us, and for this further demonstration that our cause has the support of our elected representatives. Our latest funding position has taken a big step forward, and we are now up to £18,850 (not including the currently unknown Heart of the Community award). Thanks for reading this latest newsletter.
