Do you know where you were five years ago today? I know exactly where I was. It was the first time Olga and I met, and one year to the day before we’d get hitched! A friend had invited me to a party, and I’d written back and said I’d be there. She said, “Great, because there’s someone I want you to meet. She’s the most amazing person in the world.” But then, a trip I’d been planning with a friend of mine got postponed, and I had to say sorry I couldn’t make the party after all. However, the trip got rained out, and we had to head back early. So, for no particular reason I found myself riding around the area of Huntington, NY on September 20, 2009. And it dawned on me…That party is today. Now, I don’t know what’s worse; saying that you will be there and then not showing up, or saying that you won’t be there and then showing up anyway. So I sort of did both, and who cares, the point is I met Olga there. It was an early party and a few adventurous souls wanted to take the long drive north to go apple picking. So, it was decided Olga’s brother would drive his Jeep packed with people, and lucky me, I get to follow with Olga in her car. And when she sees that I’m crazy for a sporty convertible, she even lets me drive. As we pull away I hear her brother say, “She never lets anyone drive her car.” It doesn’t seem like five years ago, but more like yesterday and a life time ago at the same time.
