Doctor results. Endocrinologist called apologizing for not replying to my emails...he had been out of town and there was a communication error so I never got replied to. Anyway, he said talk to GI about polycose, and of that doesnt help we may need to try a medication that has side effects we are trying to avoid. He also said make an appointment for February, and he will get her in sooner if needed. GI...so much. Ill break it down by problem. Height - no change in a very long time. Weight - lost 1.5 pounds, so we are increasing her day feed a little to stop the losing but still wait for her height to catch up a bit. Diarrhea - will see if insurance will cover a fecal elastese test to see if she is pancreatic sufficient. Also trying a round of an antibiotic called Flagyl which is used for small bowel overgrowth...if it works that was the problem...if not, we move onto scoping to see if the reason can be found. Reflux - maxed out on meds, but bumped one up by 0.1 to see if it helps. Liver - repeating labs to see what is happening now. Blood sugars - said Polycose is corn based, which did not work well with Charity. Suggested trying very small amounts of corn starch to see if she tolerates it and see if we can increase to a level to stabilize her blood sugars...but not until the Flagyl is done. Food - after Flagyl and corn starch testing, we may try a little bit of banana or rice to see if things have changed with her tolerating foods. If Charity continues to have reflux and/or diarrhea, he will scope her fairly soon. And we are back to check ups at 2 month intervals. He is frustrated right along with us and is doing all he can. We see new pediatrician tomorrow...an hour long appointment...Im sure we will be using every second of it. I want to cry...but she is in full Spunky Princess mode and is happily unaware of what any of this means...so Ill just follow her lead.
