Does anyone remember a drive in on I think it was 8th street called the Blue Goose. I would ride by on my bike and struck up a conversation with a young man. He asked me to sit in his convertible with him and bought me a coke. We visited many times. I called him shredded wheat because he had a beard that was about that color. I was around 9 years old. He was probably 20 or so. We talked about everything. One day he wasnt there and never come back. Ive wondered all my life what happened to him. I had got so attached to him that I think I remember kind of grieving. This was an innocent time and nothing sinister was thought of this. I remember riding up and waiting and the carhop coming up to me and saying I havent seen him in a few days. She knew who I was waiting on. Funny how a person like that can have so much influence in a childs life. He left me with more questions than answers but Ive missed our conversations for the rest of my life. I never knew his name. Just called him Shredded Wheat.
