Does anyone remember our old friend, Sammy the cocker spaniel? This little man came back from the brink of death when his owners turned him into a shelter in New Jersey and claimed they found him at the side of the road. Sammy was so matted that he had become mummified and was no longer able to stand up or move. The shelter shaved him down and discovered his emactiated body, near death from starvation and dehydration. It was only due to the Red Bank Animal Hospital in New Jersey that Sammy was brought back from the verge of death. Sammys owners faced serious animal cruelty charges, were sentenced to the full extent of New Jersey law by a judge that was fair and reasonable. Unfortunately, they appealed the case to a different judge who reduced the sentencing to barely anything other than house arrest for six weeks. It was a crushing and heartbreaking blow to many of Sammys fans who had dedicated themselves to attending every one of the court proceedings. But although Sammy did not get the justice he so deserved . . . he did get something really wonderful. Sammy got the forever home that he should have had years ago, with someone that loves him and takes such great care of him and treats Sammy as a much loved family member. For that, we are truly grateful. Here is a new video of Sammy that just made us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We love you Sammy!
