Does anyone remember the very first INSTANT PRINTING shop at 330 SW 3rd called Goodway Copy Center? I managed that shop in 1967 - 1969... You could bring in your camera ready copy and I would burn a plastic plate I could mount on the AB Dick 360 (with 11x17 chain delivery), printing press, and I could run off up to 10,000 impressions at 60 sheets / hr... This is where I met Gary Ewing, (even though we were both in The Family Dog in SF since 1966). when he brought in a poster for The Crystal Ballroom to be printed... Carl Swett let me work after hours on my own time and print anything I wanted for the cost of the paper and ink... even though we were right around the corner from the police station, I would lock the front door and wed burn a doob in the back room, and do some very creative printing... like dab different colors on the rollers so they would blend together like a rainbow for one pass, then make a second pass in black... The Crystal has some of these early posters on display in the lobby on the south side of the elevator... all printed by yours truly... of course I always got in FREE... aww.... those were the days.... I was 19...
