Does losing an election really take away ones right as a citizen - TopicsExpress

Does losing an election really take away ones right as a citizen with a sizeable following to raise ones concerns about issues bedevilling the nation???? With all due respect to the Honourable minister, it is not Rocket Science that there is cash flow issues in Zimbabwe; neither is it Rocket Science that companies are folding up; or that unemployment is at its peak; or that 1 million children have no fees; or that erratic power supplies are driving what remains of our depleted industry aground; the list is endless. In a democracy a leader of the opposition even without a parliament seat has a mandate to share his concerns about the state of national issues. This then should be the sitting governments wake up call to focus on the issues raised and address them if possible. Diverting the readers or the nation from pertinent issues to trivia such as bedroom issues is not only patronising the electorate but cheap politics of the past....!!! With all due respect who in the country does not have the so called bedroom issues in one form or the other..??? If the private life of the leader of the opposition is making him a liability politically then it is his party that ought to remove him from office. What the leader of the opposition calls his address is something else that is subject to debate......and in a free country like Zimbabwe as long as that does not insult the office of the President then it should not be a subject for making headlines. If we were to be that particular about titles, then no leader of any organisation would be referred to as president which would be naive..... The Honorable minister has earned some well deserved accolades in the work he has done so far in trying to stem rot in some quarters. It is my view therefore that he should not be drawn to stoop this low, but should with other ministers focus on eradicating the false economy that has existed in Zimbabwe since the collapse of the Zim dollar in 2002. If I may digress a bit, globalisation has not helped small economies like ours in that the country has not benefitted from its investment in human resources. Globalisation has seen human resource flight to bigger economies that offered better rewards than our economy, the near collapse of our small economy did not help either. Matching those rewards with our size of economy was always going to be a pipe dream. The honourable ministers proposal of prising and salary restructuring is very much applauded although it will meet tough challenges from the impacts of globalisation alluded to earlier.....forward with our Renaissance & to hell with bedroom issues. Long live our freedom especially from self destruction....!!!!
