Dog meat exists in South Korea. But the number of people raising companion animals is increasing, and the consumption of dog meat is decreasing with the rise of awareness thanks to animal protection groups’ like CARE. Still, dog meat is a reality and there are many dogs being farmed and slaughtered in cruel ways, but no one is doing anything about it. CARE, raided a residential area in Incheon where 5 dog slaughterhouses are located. Shockingly they witnessed the horrific environment and disclosed that abandoned dogs are slaughtered regularly. Also, the dogs are fed really old food waste, including plastic bags, preservatives, and toothpicks, things that animals are not suppose to eat. The slaughterhouse owner even goes as far as feeding slaughtered dog’s intestines to other dogs. When CARE arrived at the scene, a dog was being slaughtered. The slaughterhouse owner was standing next to a dog he had hung torch in hand. He was about to use the torch to burn off the dogs fur, but the dog was still alive.
