After graduation from Lebanon High School in 1941, he joined the U.S. Navy in World War II and served in Trinidad, British Guiana, and Maui. He retired in 1984 after 38 years of dedicated service. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Carter Country Club (Lebanon) and later Beaver Meadow (Concord). He shot a hole in one at Carter Country Club, NH Country Club in Sutton, and Angus Lea in Hillsboro. During his retirement, Don volunteered to make repairs for Talking Books for the blind. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a quiet and humble man supporting and encouraging his children in every aspect of their lives. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic as well as being a true gentleman, a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
