Donna says to me shortly after midnight, Happy Birthday, it sucks that you have to spend it at Johns Hopkins. I ask in reply, thats all that sucks? So many things suck, but you get nowhere listing them all. So, Im sitting here in Baltimore this morning reflecting on another birthday and the mind is wandering all over the place. Im not upset about spending my birthday here. Hell, Id go anywhere to spend my birthday with my baby. Plus, Im gonna get a good lunch and dinner out of the deal, so its all good, lol. Im thinking about all of the things that this unwelcome, uninvited, evil beast took from us. It took so many things, but again, you cant look back, only forward. However, it did give us one thing that most people do not have and cannot or choose not to feel. The ability to treat every second of every day as a gift. The consciousness to celebrate every minute with those you love, because tomorrow is not promised to any of us. So today, I am thankful for every second I can spend with my partner in crime. It may not be the perfect birthday setting, but anyone that knows us, knows we will have a great day together. Please pray that Donna has a bearable chemo week this time. Keep the faith......WE GOT THIS!!!!
