Dont get me wrong...I believe in giving when it is needed, and I give to many charities and folks that need it. But I am really pissed at the American Breast Cancer Association. I keep getting phone calls every day. I finally answered and was told if I made a donation they would take me off the phone list. Of course, they wanted credit card or electronic check info over the phone. I told them no, I wouldnt send donations that way. They said they would send a packet for me to donate. I told them they could send the packet, but I couldnt guarantee what I could donate, if anything. A few days later, I got my precious packet in the mail. They wanted a minimum of $30. I received this packet on December 23, and I was pretty busy taking care of grandkids and getting ready for Christmas. Yesterday, I got another call from them. As soon as I answered the phone, the lady on the other end wanted to know why I hadnt sent the donation. I told her I had been pretty busy with Christmas and all. Well, this lady was irate - said she had a recording saying that I promised to send money, and that they wanted it sent immediately. I told her the only recording she had was one where I said I didnt promise anything, that I would make my decision later. Once again, she insisted that I sent the $30. I told her she could wish in one hand and pee in the other, and see which one filled up first. Then I promptly hung up. Lets just say if I get any more calls from this charity, I will make sure they have a recording that states my opinion loud and clear. Whatever happened to common courtesy...especially when youre wanting something from someone? Sorry, just venting - so tired of rude people! Cant even get away from them in my own home.
