Dont have an MFA in scenic technology? Maybe its time to think about getting one... University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance seeks Technical Director to begin ideally in September 2014. The position is a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor with possibility of continuation as Instructional Faculty. Collaborate with student and faculty designers, ATD, Scenic Charge/Props Supervisor and student assistants in producing challenging academic and summer seasons. Function as Technical Director; teach graduate classes in materials and methods, CADD, and production planning; mentor and supervise graduate technical direction students and interested undergraduates; Work with Production Manager in planning schedules, budgets, space and stage usage and ensuring proper student training in the use of equipment and safety practices. Qualifications: MFA with minimum 3 years professional or academic experience preferred, equivalent professional experience considered. Demonstrated skill in production planning, safety, budget management, rigging, carpentry and metalworking.
