Don’t lose hope in Allāh’s Mercy. One of the best criteria of the believers is not to despair in Allāh’s mercy regardless how impossible the situation is. Don’t we find it ironic, when Allāh said in the Qur’an - His trials are based upon one’s eeman? So theoretically, if someone is practicing, the test would be hardened and multiplied upon him. Yet, the believers don’t find this as a threat. Every kind of fear, makes us run away from the person or thing that we feared about - But Allāh. By fearing Allāh, it’s not only keeping us close to Him but also increases our love. Each sahabi has their own interesting story but the story of Bilal bin Ra’bah RadiAllāhu anh never failed to amaze me. One of the most significant moment in his life is, when he recited Adhaan from the roof of Ka’bah - during Fathul Makkah. It was a symbolic that Arab and Non-arab are equal. But it wasn’t the dearest moment for him. Someone asked him, “O Bilal, what’s the most beloved moment to you?” And he answered, “When the heavy rock was placed on my chest under the burning heat, and I repeatedly said ‘Ahad’ was the most beloved moment to me.” Obviously, this is the result from one who tasted the sweetness of Eeman. For pleasing his Lord no matter how painful is most beloved and dearest to him. —— Sadly we are living in the opposite pole. We hate being tested, we hate trials and tribulations. We are very quick to give up, just because our heart hasn’t reach the level - Halawatul Eeman.
