Dottie Update! Dottie and Buffy have been at their foster home - TopicsExpress

Dottie Update! Dottie and Buffy have been at their foster home for two weeks now - since August 24th. They have settled in nicely and are enjoying being treated like little princesses. They love the salt licks, but decided they should chew through the hay net! Dottie had seemed pretty comfortable in her cast, but her foster mom had some concerns about oozing she saw though the cast just yesterday. The two made a return trip to the Wisconsin Equine Clinic & Hospital today and Dr. Pigott decided to remove the cast to check the oozing and Dotties healing leg. Dr. Pigott said he was not surprised about the oozing where the wound was healing. Dr Pigott removed the cast to check Dotties leg. He was pleased to let us know there was no infection in the surgical incision, just fluids leaking from the wound. He said he was very happy with how the back of Dotties leg was looking, at the surgery site. He said a nice layer of granulation tissue was forming. He only found one sore from the cast on Dotties leg - but it was a minor one. Dr. Piggot then recasted her leg today and he made this cast a little taller, and straightened the leg slightly. Dr. Pigott will continue to cast Dotties leg to a straighter position as her severed tendons heal, gradually getting her back to a normal leg position. Dottie and Buffys foster family are angels and we cant thank them enough tor all the TLC they are giving these special ponies! The cost of after care continues to grow, with a long road to recovery ahead for Dottie. The Dodge County Humane Society is still welcoming donations for Dottiess medical expenses. To donate for Dottie - please go to a.pgtb.me/nKPWXX and using the link please apply my donation to - please put for Dottie. Thank you and we cant wait for the day little Dottie can trot and run again- just be a pony!!
