Douglas Dakota as Musical Star in Soldier of Orange Photo nr 1. Today, we finished the repair job on the Dakota that is starring in Hollands most successful Musical of all time. The innovative theater production has an auditorium with 1100 seats that revolve up and forth over the multiple acts that attracted in 5 years time well over 1,5 million spectators. The show takes place in an old hangar that once housed the Lockheed Neptunes, Avengers, Trackers and even the PBY-5A Catalina. At the ex-Naval Air station Valkenburg, just 10 miles from The Hague, you see here the C-47 ex- Air Atlantique G-AMCA, that came from Coventry UK, to the Aviodrome Museum years ago. She almost met the scrapper, but saved by the bell, the old Lady stood up from her agony and now performs live in 8 shows per week for a full House as one of the success factors of this novel production. The Dakota is fresh for the Christmas shows, complete again after the storm- damage sustained and now with landing lights mounted in the wing leading edges.
