Downtown Dog Rescue The South LA Shelter Intervention program has prevented a total of 1711 pets from entering the shelter (1488 dogs, 214 cats and 9 rabbits) Despite how hard we work to keep pets out, we are not always successful. We were not successful in keeping Mahogany and her sister Tara out of the shelter. Their owner ran out of time, we could not find fosters and he ended up coming back to the shelter. We planned to pull both dogs, but did not end up having the space to take them both, so we took Tara, the more outgoing of the two, who already has a meet and greet lined up with a potential adopter. Our plan is to pull her sister if Tara is adopted. With no kennel and every foster home full with our dogs, we made a difficult decision to take one of the sisters. Can you help us by rescuing Mahogany? She is at the South LA shelter and is available now for adoption.
