City of Needles Public Work Crews were seen on Thursday putting up Christmas lights onto the Memorial Tree in Downtown Needles, California getting the Memorial Tree ready for Saturdays lighting of the Memorial Tree. There will be lots of Christmas and Holiday Season related events being held around Downtown Needles, California on Saturday, December 6th, 2014. ** The following is a list of events happening around Downtown Needles, California on Saturday, December 6th, 2014: ** - At Women’s Club of Needles Clubhouse: Santa Claus will be riding on down Route 66 and making a stop by the Women’s Club of Needles Clubhouse located at 305 West Broadway near A Street in Downtown Needles, California on Saturday, December 6th, 2014 from 9:00am to 1:00pm PT. Santa Claus will be there to take pictures with the good children of the community and there will be a bake and specialty boutique sale from 9:00am to 2:00pm PT. The Sparks of Love Toy Drive will be accepting registrations from 10:00am to 12:00pm PT at the Women’s Club of Needles Clubhouse. Drop off a new and unwrapped toys for all ages at 20 locations in Needles, California. - At Desert Communities Federal Credit Union: Santa Claus will be riding on down Route 66 and making a stop by Santa’s Village at the Desert Communities Federal Credit Union located at 1001 West Broadway in Downtown Needles, California on Saturday, December 6th, 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm PT. Santa Claus will be there to take pictures with the good children of the community and there will be activities for the children. There will be reportedly food, vendors, and entertainment there. - Near Santa Fe Park: The Needles Recreation Center will be holding their annual Peewee Derby Races near Santa Fe Park on Saturday, December 6th, 2014 beginning at 1:00pm PT. Cost to participate in the Peewee Derby Races is $15.00 per racer and only cars supplied by the Needles Recreation Center will be allowed to race. Needles Recreation Center has supplied build your own pinewood derby cars which includes paint brushes, glue, stickers, and instructions as well as a goodies bag. There are 3 categories for the Peewee Derby Races which includes ages 4 to 6, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12 and awards will be handed out after the Peewee Derby Races. You can register for the Peewee Derby Races at the Needles Recreation Center located at 1705 J Street in Needles, California. - Along West Broadway and Front Street in Downtown Needles, California: A lighted parade down Route 66 will be held along West Broadway and Front Street in Downtown Needles, California on Saturday, December 6th, 2014. Lighted parade check in will start at 4:30pm PT and the lighted parade will start at 5:30pm PT. There is no charge to participate in the lighted parade and participators in the lighted parade will be judged on best use of lights and best display of theme in 3 categories for the lighted parade; Best Float, Best Decorated Vehicle, and Best Group and awards will be presented after the lighted parade. Streets along the lighted parade route will be closed after 4:00pm PT which includes West Broadway and Front Street between D Street and I Street in Downtown Needles, California. All road closures are subject to change without notice and may be closed or reopen early or later. Driver should use caution in the area before the lighted parade are there will be a lot of pedestrian traffic in the area.
