Dr. Bridgette Brawners Research Uses Mapping Technology to Explore the Spread of HIV/AIDS Bridgette M. Brawner, PhD, APRN, Assistant Professor of Nursing, utilizes innovative new technology in her research exploring the spread of diseases like HIV/AIDS. Mapping allows researchers to plot health and environmental factors to identify locations where the risk of transmitting the disease is highest. Brawner says, Being able to visualize an epidemic, or social and structural conditions that affect the work we do, strengthens our ability to do something about it. Dr. Brawner will present at the Sigma Theta Tau International Spring 2014 Colloquium on Thursday, April 3 from noon - 1pm. Her talk is titled Geobehavioral Vulnerability to HIV: A Comprehensive, Multi-level Approach.
